Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information The Fourth Story, LLC (“The Fourth Story,” “we,” “us”) collects through thefourthstory.com, how we use it and the choices you have. It covers this website only. When you book through Airbnb, Vrbo, Booking.com or another platform, that platform’s privacy policy applies to the information you give it.
Information we collect
- Inquiries. When you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, phone number (optional), travel dates, number of guests and anything you write in your message.
- Insiders list. When you sign up for our email list, we collect your first name and email address.
- Price quotes. When you check availability or request a quote, the dates and number of guests you enter are sent to our booking system to calculate the price.
- Bookings. Direct bookings are completed on our booking site, operated by our property management system, Hostaway. Your name, contact details, stay details and payment are collected there, and payments are processed by its payment provider. We never see or store your full card number.
- Emails you send us. If you email us, we keep the message and your contact details so we can reply.
- Basic visit statistics. Our web host records standard information about visits, such as pages viewed, referring site, browser type and IP address, to keep the site secure and to show us how many people visit.
Cookies
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies on this site, and we do not use third-party analytics such as Google Analytics. Our tour video is embedded from YouTube. When you play it, YouTube may set its own cookies under Google’s privacy policy. Our website software may also set cookies that are strictly needed for the site to work.
How we use your information
- To answer your questions and plan your stay.
- To process and manage reservations, including check-in instructions and your Stay Agreement.
- To send insiders-list emails about openings and direct-booking specials, if you signed up. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe.
- To keep records of inquiries, sign-ups and reservations for our business.
- To protect the site and our guests, prevent spam and fraud, and meet legal obligations.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers that help us run the cabin and this website, and only as needed for that purpose:
- Hostaway and its payment processor, for bookings, quotes and payments.
- Our web host, for hosting this website and its visit statistics.
- Microsoft 365, which delivers and stores our business email.
- Our cleaning and property care team, who receive only what they need to prepare for your stay, such as arrival dates and group size.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect our rights, property or guests, or as part of a sale or transfer of the property or business.
How long we keep it
We keep inquiry and reservation records for as long as we need them to serve you and run the business, including for tax and accounting purposes. We keep insiders-list details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from our emails at any time with the link in any email, or by contacting us.
- Access, correct or delete your information by emailing us. We will respond within a reasonable time, and may need to keep some records we are legally required to keep.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights under your state’s law. Contact us and we will honor them as required.
Security
This site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS), and we limit access to your information to the people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Reservations must be made by an adult; the primary guest must be at least 25.
Links to other sites
Our site links to other websites, such as Airbnb, Vrbo, Instagram, YouTube and local attractions. Their privacy practices are their own, and we encourage you to read their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
